JDC COMPETES AT GROOVE DANCE COMPETITION

Jacksonville Dance Company aka JDC, whose dance home is at Huff 'n Puff in Jacksonville, competed in the Groove Dance Competition on Saturday,  March 27, at Robinson Auditorium in Little Rock, Arkansas.  JDC competed against sixteen other dance studios in this two-day competition.  Due to Covid restrictions, dance competitions are being held with fewer dance companies competing at the same time.  Awards are announced for the dances but overall scores were not announced until Tuesday afternoon (April 1).  It was announced at that time that

JDC was awarded the Groove Award for top highest scoring studio of the entire weekend.  And, additionally, the studio was awarded the Overall Technique Award.  We are as proud of one award as the other! Just goes to show that those extra hours spent working in the studio pays off!!!

The Competition began at 4:00 Saturday afternoon with the performance of "Fabulous" a jazz routine taught by Ms. Rachel that was awarded a Diamond and First Place Overall  in the Intermediate Petitie Small Group.  Performing in this number wereJosie Epperson, Aubrey Hague, Hayes McMahan, Lianna Overholser and Lily Overholser.  Due to very limited time span between numbers, pictures were not available of all groups.  Professional photos have beem added for most of the performances.   Also a few photos were taken from the previous competition.  This is the seond competition of the season for JDC but the first for group performances - the prior competition, only solos and duets competed.

The dance performances were divided into number of performers in the group, age groups and level of performance - novice, intermediate, competitive, etc. If more than one age group is in the group, the ages are averaged - same goes for level of performances for group or number.    Scoring was Saphire, Elite Saphire, Diamond and Elite Diamond.
